So I got selected to be part of a kind of surprise project. Surprise not because I didn’t know the project existed but that I would be requested to be a part of it. I guess it is meant as a promotion of sorts and I am really excited to be honest.
It will lead me a away from the Citadel for some time though, I have no idea how long and how I will be able to keep up with the boards. I’ll try but as it is, such promotions tend to come with even more workload so I am not sure what amount of free time I will have while on the project. So this is also an advance apology to those I converse with more regularly. But what about you people. Business trips, are they usually more of a necessary burden or do you like to travel for the job? ![]() |

I always enjoyed the travelling part of the job, and I have always jumped at the opportunity, that said I know that many of my colleagues are do not like me; preferring to stay at one post for years on end. It is a personal choice of course but I like experiencing what the galaxy has to offer.

I've got to zip between Illium and the Citadel constantly. It's exhausting. I've got two restaurants and I've got financial obligations and interests in numerous colonies. Furthermore, I've got custody of my son every other weekend starting on Friday and ending on Monday, so I've got time to set aside for him. Friendship And Food! 45E Shin Akiba! |

The travel was part of the reason I joined up in the first place.

Traveling was my life for many years.
I'd really rather keep that in the past tense. |

A long time ago, when I first started taking off on my own, it used to be a really fun part of the job.
I noticed that as the job got old though, the travelling did for me, too. After changing professions and sitting still for a while, it's been kind of nice again, in the little I've gotten. Most of what I do anymore is local travelling, around Lusia, with a few things that call me off planet, but that's something that's grown on me. The world's plenty big, with a lot to see, and it doesn't have nearly as much down-time between being places like that. Of course that leaves a lot fewer examples of interesting alien culture to see. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Done. |

Who the fuck doesn't?
You get to meet interesting people (and kill them) see interesting places (and blow them the fuck up) and you get to try new foods (eating your enemies. You got to get to fucking Kruban somehow you assholes and you get there by eating a bunch of shitheads!) |

That was actually somewhat-relatable for a while. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Done. |

I like it (still). Once in a while it’s just a combination of maiden urges and the necessity of my main job to go see some other places. Luckily I am free to decide when I travel and am not just sent or ordered. Benefits of freelancing I guess. I don’t know if I’d like to be sent from one place to the next on short notice though.

My days of intense travel are long over.
I used to be in a position where I could decide on my own when and where to travel. That was until the relay in my home system was locked down. Now I am on an involuntary trip again to restore my health, in a way that is job related, you could say. I am wanted around for bit longer I heard. Anyway, this trip is nearing its end, phase one of the therapy is over and I am allowed to return to Trategos in the next weeks. I am contemplating what to do first with my improved health. Travelling only on the planet for a while though. |

Congratulations on the promotion-of-sorts!
I've always had a fair bit of travel - naturally with the entertainment side of things, when I've been part of groups like the Illian Stars, and Omega 4-Some back in the day, there'd be tours and so on (although you rarely get a chance to do much beyond being on stage; nice to meet audience members on different worlds though). There's some attached to the film work as well, promotions and so forth, although apart from appearing at the actual premieres (which are either at Bliss for the big ones, or locally for smaller films) I don't wind up doing a lot of that - even before stepping back as I've done now I wasn't one of the names that got on the poster in big text, so promotional appearances weren't so vital as they would be for someone like Seysa Jannus or Farius Frinnj, where they get shipped around from planet to planet. That's not so bad, so far as these things go, I gather - it's a tight schedule, but not so ridiculous you don't get any time between flights and appearances; a lot of the local promoters like to show the stars about a bit, visit hotspots and mingle with people, and while it's all stage-managed it doesn't sound like it's that trying. At least with the people EP works with; it probably varies a lot. My other line of work used to see more travel than you'd think - not nowadays, since I've got a compelling reason to want to stay close to home. But back when I didn't mind roaming there were lots of opportunities, once you'd networked a bit and gotten into a position to hear about them - resorts and cruise ships, even when they have plenty of local staff, always have openings for entertainers (of various kinds) to spend a season working there without any longer-term commitment. So long as you can afford passage to and from, and don't mind the work itself (which, admittedly, would be a deal breaker for a lot of people), it's actually a pretty sweet deal - take your pick of luxury locations anywhere you please, and if you plan a few months in advance you can probably spend a summer there, all reasonable expenses paid, and come back with credits to show for it. I still do out-calls, but nothing I can't get home at the end of the day from - it doesn't really count as 'travel' (at most it'll involve a high-speed to another city and back), but it's got a little of the same attraction, I suppose. Lots of time in hotels, at any rate - and when not, you get to have a peek into the homes of the rich and famous. :) (Well, alright, in my case the fairly-well-off and kinky, but it's still fun. Got a semi-regular client at the moment who has a controlled-gravity spa bath - cool stuff.) ![]() |
