I have to write a paper about some folklore tales. Retelling the story, analyzing them, that sort of thing. Since I now have you all...

It's Story Time!

Just tell your favorite piece of folklore from your culture! Do it for my grade!

My favorite doesn't have a proper name, but I prefer "Don't Look Back". It's a "recent" folklore story, so to speak, appearing about three hundred years ago according to my textbooks.

It starts as many human folkloric tales from that time do, with a boyfriend and boyfriend in a car along an isolated road (three guesses as to why). While driving along the rode, the car breaks down. The boyfriend decides to walk along the road to get help from a service station nearby. This has the girlfriend worried because there have been some murders in the area, so the two of them decide on a signal, so she doesn't open the door for some maniac.

So she waits in the locked car, hiding so you can't see her unless you peer into the windows. It started to rain after an hour, and nearby branches scratched the hood of the car, and after two hours, she fell asleep. In the morning she woke up to police sirens. Figuring it was safe, she opened the door to greet the police officers. The nearest one quickly grabbed her and started dragging her to a cruiser with one firm instruction, "Don't look back."

But she did look back, and hanging in the trees over the car was her boyfriend, his throat slit. It wasn't rain that was falling on the roof of the car...

It was his blood.

Her hair turned white within the month, and according to the police report, "The girl inside didn't even wake up" was carved into the hood of the car.

Meh. I've heard scarier around the camp. Ever heard the story of the stealthy Thresher Maw that could wipe out an entire clan in a night?

If I'm correct we don't have to tell scary tales yes? Just popular ones.

Well this one my mother always told me and it holds a special place in my eyes.

"Such it was that a count (Batarian of course) had many slaves, as expected. He was a good owner, and his slaves were healthy and capable and content. "What a beautiful house and a wonderful agency", said his visitors. But once came a visitor, another count, who was rude and sneaky. Our hero knew something was bad with this one, but didn't have proof. And indeed, the visitor was really of a lower caste, and cheating in his ways!
The visitor was jealous, for no matter how he cheated about his caste and privileges, his slaves were poor and his house ugly, only filled with expensive and stolen furnitures, without regard for overall elegance.
Our hero didn't have proof of that, and indeed his heart grew sad of seeing such a terrible house, while visiting the fake count in return. One slave in particular caught his eye, for she was graceful and strangely well groomed. The other slaves were instinctively following her lead!
Our hero managed to be alone with her and talked to her! (Note : This is actually a strong point of the story. If anyone saw him talk to a lower caste for another reason than give instructions, his prestige would be very much sullied) he learned that she was kidnapped young by lower caste monsters, jealous of her powerful family, and their leader used her and other upper class kidnapees to build this house of lies!
Our hero was taken with a righteous fury and challenged the felon at once. They dueled, using traditional Karlhakis (codex : traditional blades in the eastern continent of Kar'shan, and our hero had of course the upper hand all along. But his foe, not slowed down by honour in the least, pulled a carak (codex : Batarian renaissance miniature crossbow) and aimed it at our hero's heart!
Our hero just glared at him and told him "Put it down". The thief suddenly was petrified, his delusion of high class vanished, and put it down, obeying to his superior. For that he was cleanly decapitated instead of suffering public torture.
Our hero liberated the high class members of the thief's house and returned them to their families, and appropriated the actual slaves, who were nursed back to health and given chores best applied to their knowledge. He contracted a life bond with the princess that he rescued, and it was a union best for their families, and their hearts.
So it is that even if you get betrayed and cast down, your lineage will resurface sooner or later, if you keep your head high and honor your family.
Long live Kar'shan, and good night."

Physiologically impossible.

Feel free to ask me about Thresher Maw biology.

Well you're the specialist, but he doesn't have to eat them all right? He can just bury the ones he kills and eat them later.
