Miralatriarch Just because I'm likely far older than you doesn't mean I know better.
A lot can happen in a year - particularly the one we just had - and many of us have found ourselves in quite a different position to what we'd have expected before those months of insanity.
So I (and presumably others) would like to know what you've been doing since those mechanical horrors decided they'd rather not slaughter the lot of us.

Just to get the ball rolling:
I'm now a full-time matriarch; not exactly by choice, more thanks to the fact I'm one of far too few of us in this system. Most were on Thessia, or our colonies - many perished, the remainder seem to be unwilling to leave asari space in this early stage of its restoration. A selfish move, perhaps, but travel back here is admittedly difficult. Still, there are many asari still on Earth or the Citadel, and I feel what little guidance and comfort I can provide would be more useful here. As such, I have resolved not to leave (at least for long) until the situation here is eased.
My presence is deliberately not widely publicised - that was Matriarch Direna's mistake, now the poor woman is swamped with supplicants - but nor will I turn away anyone who seeks me out.

It's rather difficult, but I do think I'm helping.

Aside from that, I've been getting to know my six-month-old granddaughter (who has quite the pair of lungs, let me tell you) and learning to cook Terran dishes for whenever Everett is on leave.

Do share!

Um...Hi Mirala. Glad to see you survived the war. Sorry for not visiting you before running off to Tuchanka.

I've been helping out at Tuchanka, mostly working in a nursery in one of the camps. A lot of them have been popping up since the Genophage has been cured, so there's no shortage of work there. And working on the farms. Now, they don't need as much work as they did when we were setting them up, but its still pretty hard.

And I've apparently been proclaimed a godsister or something like that. Thaig, my caretaker, had a son, and part of my job is taking care of him, so Thaig wants me to look after him in case something happens to him. The kid's name is Shepard...Like about half of the other babies here. I'm trying to talk him into changing the name before it's too late.

Paperwork, mostly. Daia turned out to be reasonably savvy with her investments, so once the war economy dried up in favor of reconstruction (and, let's face it, the Board of Governors could afford to choose what species they kept on), I just volunteered for an administrative position she was looking to fill. So now the workday's pretty much entirely about shipping invoices and customer service calls where people don't understand how many parts they need to put together a basic decon/SAAH system.

I spent the first few months after V Day in various hospitals, first getting surgery and then under-going therapy and then more surgery. Luckily my wife found me during that time-even it drives me nuts when she talks about my nervous system to my doctor and I have absolutely no fucking idea what they're on about. and then I got informed that my entire fucking battalion is being disbanded so I got 'promoted' (still the same rank but with a more 'senior' billet that usually goes to OpsChiefs).

But my daughter was born. She's beautiful. And she likes to keep me up at night because she refuses to sleep anywherre but in our bed, but I'm not really complaining.

So now I spend my days doing piles of paperwork, teaching privates how to balance goddamn spreadsheets and looking after my neice and daughter. Or trying to anyway. The maternal thing doesn't come naturally.

I am also caring for my daughter Ramla. Yes, she is alive, and that is all you need to know of that topic.

Got promoted (officially, rather than the on-site promotion I had during the war)... aside from that, paperwork. Lots and lots of paperwork. We're basically reorganizing everything since the old chain of command was prettymuch gone for a while.

A lot. I'm sure that Mirala would agree with me. I was wounded during the Battle of Earth...got some fancy facial scarring and a prosthetic arm from it. I have to thank the Alliance for that. I'm still serving them today, and I don't know when I'll be stopping. To think that I wanted to get away from the military life before all this... the irony.

I'm still sciencing, and dating a very pretty drell lady! Back in Nos Astra, my place got squished but my new apartment is even better!
Weird thing happened a couple of weeks ago, though... Nos Astra Uni contacted me, asking if I wanted tenure there - even though I've only had my doctorate for 108 years!

And I'm saving up for a trip to the Citadel, I want to see my niece! :)

Burnout
Let's see. I quit C-Sec, because frankly I've had enough active combat duty in my life, having been caught:

A. On the Citadel during the geth attack,
B. On Omega immediately before and during the Cerberus takeover
C. On the Citadel during the Cerberus coup attempt
and
D. On the Citadel during the Reaper hijacking.

I'm not sure to count myself as having terrible luck for getting caught in all that, or having great luck for surviving them. Either way, I've had enough of it.

So I became an instructor, particularly with biotics though I'm good at...well, most things vanguards do, so there's general combat ability in there. I may not be active anymore myself, but I'm happy to help those who will be.

And I do volunteer work in rebuilding the Citadel and Earth. Biotics are useful for the heavy lifting. I don't intend to simply do nothing even now.

Trying to get the Alliance to take me back...okay that makes me sound like a desperate ex, um, essentially I've been just trying to keep myself busy. Making some adjustments to the house, doing what little I can to secure Mars against future attacks, and getting involved in politics.

Okay that last one I'm not to proud of but I kind of made things FUBAR and no sense in belly aching, right? If they want me working again they'll let me know...anyways, way too much free time. Everyone thinks I'm some kind of survivalist or something.

Yeah, I think our battalion was considered way too understrength to function properly or some official reasoning like that, or it could just be that a lot of people left after the war was over.

I personally had to go through about 2 months of recovery after I got stranded in the London ruins with some rather nasty respiratory injuries. Luckily a passing withdrawing patrol hauled me back to a FOB. I still have nightmares about that feeling of just being alone in a dust covered ruin, slowly dying.

After I recovered, I got transferred to Citadel garrison, and here I am, 10 months later.
