Few have the opportunity you have now, the opportunity I was given.

Kayana, I think this will cause an additional rift between us, but I have to be crystal clear about that.
NOBODY at Leaving the Ducts is responsible for that horrible thing that happened. The responsible parties are that deviant monster perpetrator and his enablers. And I've been given to understand that Mr Snow and you dealt with those individuals in a satisfactory manner.

When you try to do some good other people will try to prevent you from doing by any mean necessary, including by hurting innocents. You can't consider it your fault, because if you do you can't do your job, and they win the streets back.

Now I understand that you think we've been grossly negligent about it, but honestly even if we had used some money we really don't have to put a body guard behind each kid, the gangers still would have managed to ambush one.

So no I will not write a letter of apology to the victim, because this would send the worst message possible. I will point out however that all she has to do is ask for any support, we can offer food, refuge, we can get her off planet, we can get her training and a job, or studies, medical and or psychological support...

Now I can only imagine that you're horrified at how callous I am, and I'm very sorry about it, but I really do what I think is best for the kids.

I need to ask you something. Can you stand up for me, or is it too much to ask with the circumstances? I've had an intervention already brought upon me for raising Aira wrong and I'm one note away from having my guardianship revoked. The staff here doesn't like that she was educated in a public Citadel school or that she was sheltered at Sniper's Touch during the war or that her friends are with the Sundowners. I've been accused of being a bad father for trying to turn her into a separatist.

I'm not that. The people at the top need to understand that but they won't listen to a non-turian who came over by betrayal of his former employers. I'm the worst possible person to argue my case. That's why I need your help. To them I'm just spiting them by breaking the norms.

Albert Viros Thompson.


Both of his namesakes have pulled me out of serious binds.
Viros helped me get out of Omega and died the very day I met him.
Albert helped me get this life I live now (one that's not behind bars.) and the recent hostage fiasco.

I can't think of a better reason to choose a name; I'm sure he'll do his names proud. Besides which, I checked the name meanings out of curiosity - I knew Viros already (one of my cousins two generations back was a Viros), but I don't believe I ever heard the etymology behind Albert until now - and they're both very favourable.

Since by tradition (Thessian anyway, I'm not sure how it works for humans) I can now properly offer it, my love to Albert Viros, and of course you as well,

He's on the way within the next four weeks, maybe sooner. September 10th was the day the doctor told me was the due date.
I'm not really anxious anymore, but I get the feeling I will when the day is there, I'll be worried again. I really am just excited to meet him and for him to stop kicking the crap out of me. You and a few others will be the few to get photos of him.
