[C-Sec] Batarian C-Sec Officers On Patrol Again
Vieht Ychtus – The Citadel Today Citizens of the Citadel may observe a sight long missed these days, the first three batarian C-Sec officers on patrol in more than thirty years. While still in C-Sec Academy, officers Krol Ordosh, Goronak Karrt and Vayeva Purr will be out an about on duty as part of their training in their second year. “We all came to the Citadel as refugees during the war and decided to stay.” Karrt tells us. “My homeworld is completely destroyed, there is no place else to go,” Purr adds. “I want to make a difference here on the Citadel, since it is my home now.” Asked about prejudices and obstacles, Ordush answers, “Of course we are still the ‘newbies’ on the block but someone has to make the first step. If we want to be seen as more than slavers and thugs, it needs someone setting an example. I received help from C-Sec officers when I needed it and I want to give something back.” “I think all or colleagues at the academy accept us for what we do and no for what species we are. That’s the ideal of C-Sec,” Purr, the only female of the three adds. For now, the three will be on patrol with experienced officers on Tayseri and Bachjret Wards. Commissioner Vecrius calls the three “extremely dedicated and eager to learn.” Their prior training and fighting experience shortens their education program and C-Sec plans on having them on hand wherever batarian culture specific knowledge is requested. And this is why nobody talks to doctors 'less they're missing something vital - you're an idiot. I mean, seriously, where's your sense of pride, man? Tides, you're saying you don't mind some fucking police prodnose rocking another army's colours on our turf? Varangian, if you want to break the news, feel free. If not, it's also cool - they're not called the Big Three for nothing, after all =P

I can personally assure you that a vast number of SIU agents, at the very least, are specialists in bringing people in alive. I can only assume, given their lengthy survival within the Hegemony, that some SI and SS agents were at the very least competent, which frankly leaves them a step above average. There's no need to get judgmental. |

Why bother trying to integrate into society when you are always going to be viewed as, at best a second class citizen that doesn't deserve the same rights as everyone else? |

To prove you're the better person? To try and elevate yourself above petty insults? I find it insulting that you're waving the race card around when just about a year ago, we were all dying together against the Reapers. OT: I actually met one of those officers on a delivery run. They were very cordial and polite, and I welcome them into C-Sec. Issac Jones. That's the name, don't wear it out.

okay, i had this idea.
pariah is a pariah. you know, the kind of social junk all other races put in jail for their crimes but the quarians kept sending towards the rest of the galaxy for a permanent holiday. so in other words, a criminal who committed something real bad probably. so, and now the quarians have this whole planet and so much space (i got the idea with prison and the flotilla). why don't they collect all their criminals again to put them in a proper jail and do the rest of the galaxy a favor? or maybe as a matter of good relationship, the alliance or hierarchy (cause dextro) could send a couple of their criminals to rannoch as expats? |

I think you need to do some basic math and realize that quarians have been dying for the past three centuries, long before the second wave of synthetic monsters arrived. so, and now the quarians have this whole planet and so much space (i got the idea with prison and the flotilla). why don't they collect all their criminals again to put them in a proper jail and do the rest of the galaxy a favor?
Oh I have no doubt they won't try in this future. Can't have any free quarians running around that aren't indoctrinated by the geth can we?

Batarian Barista Cuppa Joe? |
It's good to see batarians integrating into Citadel society in such an important role. Hopefully over time, more of our people will be able to reintegrate into C-Space society once more, and hopefully we can try and make a better reputation for batarians than just criminals, pirates and slavers.
I wish the best for these young officers-in-training, as well as my sympathies for losing their homes, leaving your homeworld, never to be able to return is an awful thing indeed. |
Vahruun It's "Universal" Motor Works, people, not "Ultimate". |
Why are so many people on this forum so hostile? I could kind of see some slight justification concerning people whose livelihoods more or less ban expressive freedom, but a fair number of you people seem to have chosen careers where venting your frustration and rage would be kind of like breathing.
Anyway, it is nice to see that the batarians are being welcomed back into the galactic community. As others have said, reminding society at large that they are people too, and not actually a bleak facsimile of a culture, is something that needed to happen. Tangentially, since the Eclipse and Suns are both conversing here, there is a question that struck my mind that I would appreciate an answer to: Yours are fairly large corporations. Do you merchandise? Smile! You're in a UMW. |

Good to see C-Space integrating more Batarians into their day-to-day.
While Valkar has never been involved with the former Hegemony since it's founding, some of our citizens have run afoul of C-Space prejudice in the past. A good sign of things improving, I'd like to think. [Translation] "Some waste their lives in flight. Others, find life in pursuit."- Karok Bar-Shamel, One of the original founding Gar'Sha |

Just came across this article. First, as a C-Sec officer, I find that batarians make absolutely no difference in police work. What matters is how good you are, not your species. Secondly, I know the Commisioner. Nice guy, unless you piss him off.

Why bother trying to integrate into society when you are always going to be viewed as, at best a second class citizen that doesn't deserve the same rights as everyone else?
Because maybe your children, or their children, won't be. Or you can refuse to integrate and guarantee that second class citizenship forever. I make a lot of the other ward councillors nervous and there's a few turians who won't even talk to me unless the chair of the board explicitly orders them to. Yes, it's hard, no, it's not fair, yes, I hate it. But this is the best way to make my neighbourhood a contributing part of society. If Denakot is a safe place to raise a family when I die, it'll be worth it. Or I could just tell them we're making our own rules, and head up a space mafia. Do you really think that's an improvement?
