CITADEL SENDS TASK FORCE TO THESSIA

CDR, THESSIA.

The Citadel Council today announced the formation of the Thessian Escort and Reconstruction Force (TERF) A joint taskforce set to provide naval and ground security in the Parnitha system. This comes as a response to the wave of piracy that has plagued Thessian eezo production and export in recent months.

The naval part of the taskforce is the newly formed carrier group ERITREA. Providing support to the Asari navy, with the newly constructed Alliance carrier PICASSO serving as it's flagship and the Turian cruisers TRAMENNIS and CORINTHUS as well as the Salarian frigate squadron LETENT serving as escorts.

Ground assets includes several turian, alliance and salarian battalions drawn from emergency response reserves based on their respective homeworlds. Also participating will be several Citadel based, charity, non-govermental organizations like Intergalactic red cross, Lifebearers, orphans of war and the Templars. These will be tasked with providing ground security and relief on some of the more exposed refineries and settlements on thessia.

The move has drawn criticism from several military analyst claiming that the move weakens the preparedness of each of the participants military forces in a time of unease and reconstruction. The council assures that the impact of the taskforce formation will be minimal and that their mission will be a short one, providing eezo security in this critical time after one the most devastating conflicts in our history.

Obviously they subsist off the warm fuzzy feelings their do-gooding creates.

Nobody does anything for free anymore, especially when half of the universe is building spending their money on rebuilding themselves - corporation and government alike. I'm not gonna lie, what you're suggesting regarding Templar's involvement here is a possibility that I'm more than willing to admit exists. But Vohk, and any organization he's heading up, are the real deal, even if they need to do a few distasteful things to make shit happen. Money makes the galaxy turn, and sometimes you need to burn down a few buildings to put out another fire. Even if they need investors and they're willing to put on a varren-rodeo show to show off just how good they are, it's not going to be as bad as outright stealing eezo and selling it on the black market. Sure, some guys might see that as an option, but if Vohk's the head of the organization, he'd never sanction it.

That is the general idea.

This. Actually, up until just a few weeks ago I was living with my wife's family. We only ended up moving to the Citadel (not a comfortable action. I still look up and expect the arms to close sometimes) so we could run Templar by having the station as our HQ. One day I hope we'll be able to afford an alternative, but that's the way the dice rolls.

As for any and all concerns about how Templar will be able to support itself, I simply have to point at reconstruction efforts galaxy wide. Estimates are it will take about ten to fifteen years to approach anything similar to pre war levels of production and commerce. During this time, people will be investing in whatever means they have available to achieve that level of stability even faster. Because right now, people aren't exactly making money when security is weakened, power and housing are at an all time premium, and trade has been slowed due to the Relays being damaged.

People will continue to Templar and groups like us because everyone wants to return to the status quo, and we speed things up considerably.

Thessia is only one example. Everyone's doing better, but its a long journey before we reach the end. And even when we succeed, and achieve our previous level of prosperity, there will always be situations where groups like Templar will have a role. War, natural disasters, supplying medicine to the sick. Groups like the Lifebearers, the Intergalactic Red Cross, and Shepard's have been doing this for a longer time than we have, and even if we fail, they'll continue the good work. Thats all there is to it.


Doubtful. Most of those being transported are on the TERF's actual ships. The likelihood of people successfully smuggling eezo is minute, and would likely have to have government officials in on it. Since this is being pretty widely publicized, I doubt even the most corrupt official would take the risk.
