Alright. This is going to take a bit of an explanation, but I'm looking for experts in old Batarian StateSec encryption code.
I've been doing a bit of an investigation over the last year, and I need someone to find someone who's trustworthy for this - preferably someone not associated with any Batarian Confederate member states or their respective governments or intelligence agencies. I've managed to acquire an old StateSec OSD that happened to slip the net during reconstruction here on Erszbat, and I have reason to believe the files inside may assist with my investigation. The problem is that I've tried to hack in, and any further attempts to gain access to the information without a foolproof program or password may permanently damage the files I'm trying to acquire. This cannot afford to happen, because I've gone through too much trouble and put too much effort into acquiring this old OSD. I'm willing to cover expenses for travel and equipment to the best of my ability, if any interested parties will be willing to accept payments over time. Remember - Skill in old StateSec encryption is a requirement. If you do not personally have these skills, then please forward the information to someone you know who has the necessary skill-set. -Mekan Shamelessly plugging my blog. Click [here]. Alright. I don't trust you in the fucking least. But you're ex-Cerberus and considering what Cerberus fixated on before the war, it's not hard to say that I believe you when you say you know a thing or two about StateSec encryption. Now, ordinarily, I'd just hack the damn thing myself and be done with it, but I can't guarantee that any hacking attempts I make will damage the files. Some kind of 'scorched earth' protocol that StateSec put into place on the files. If the hacking attempt isn't precise, then the files get deleted, and I lose what I'm after. Now, are you certain you're good enough at this to reliably give me what I need? And more importantly, who's cracking your whip, Cerbie? I know you wouldn't offer your help to me unless you expected to get something out of it. I've offered money, but I doubt your belt's gotten that tight. What're you after? Encrypted Communique - 4Eyes4TheWin
Alright, if I know of anyone who would be good at this whole StateSec encryption thing, it's going to be a batarian organization. The problem is, I can't be certain if you're trustworthy. My own anti-slaver politics aside, if I decide to bring you in on this, I want an assurance that anyone you bring in will not be associated with any batarian political or governmental organizations, and I want to make sure they're good at what they do. I can't afford to screw up in regards to this encryption, because of a scorched-earth protocol. Any slip-up in trying to access the data on this OSD will result in its deletion. Encrypted Communique - MrSandman
Alright. I can be sure you'll bring some decent talent to the table, but what kind of price-tag are we talking here? Are we sure they'll be good enough at this to get it on the first run? I cannot fuck this up. The OSD's got a scorched earth protocol, and I went to a lot of trouble to get these files. Do not fuck this up for me. I want an assurance that you'll get what I need. Encrypted Communique - [Redacted]
I don't know you, I don't know your capabilities, and I don't know how much talk you are. I also don't know your affiliations. Why would I turn to you? Encrypted Communique - Mata Hari

Encrypted Message: Mekan of OmegaI am quite sure. Price is entirely contingent upon the contents of the OSD. Given the currently unknown value of the device, assume the standard rate for defenses of this caliber plus an additional ten percent for the particulars of your request. Once the encryption is broken and the relative worth of the files evaluated we can renegotiate. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves. -Niccolo Machiavelli |

I don't know what's in it for you. Name your price and I'll consider it. Oh, I've got no problem naming one- the real question is, can you meet it? After all, how many other genuine ex-StateSec men with a functioning cipher machine do you have lined up? You want this done right, you know who to call. |

"Encrypted Message"Cerberus is well and truly dead, and I have moved on. I now operate a Noverian security consultancy with a number of former colleagues. Nobody is "cracking my whip." My people have the finesse of a nanosurgeon when it comes to digital manipulations. We can certainly open up a StateSec archive without setting off its landmines. My price is simple: I want a copy of the data on the disk. I assure, it will not be shared with anyone outside of my organization. Arrangements can be made as to travel and location. My team will provide their own equipment. |

...up for some GoF lately? I got levelling to do. Maybe, if I can find the time. Kind of busy lately. I would also like to report the position has been filled. Thank you for your interest, Raelon. Same to you, Mr. Washburne. Who knows? Maybe you'll see what I find in a respectable news report sometime soon. [Encrypted Communique - Mata Hari]
You serious? Cipher machine, ex-StateSec? Almost too good of an offer to pass up. But, I don't trust you. And I may have some insurance regarding another offer, as well as an all-expenses-paid deal for good measure. Thank you for offering, but I'll definitely keep you in mind if I need similar services later. Keep in touch. [Encrypted Communique - RememberTheBlitz]

Alright. Here's an alternative offer. I have a specialist lined up for this, and all he's asking for is a copy of the files. I'm taking his offer, but in return for favors or services later, I am willing to hand the same files over to you, unedited, no questions asked. Consider it a start to rebuilding a decent working relationship, Nikolai. A year in silence doesn't do wonders for maintaining old ties. [Encrypted Communique - Palmer] I'll pay for the trip myself. I've got an expert coming in already, but I want you to come along as insurance no funny business goes down. The man's gotta be dangerous. I trust you, Palmer.
