So are any of you little children afraid of what is to come after that little incident on Sur'Kesh? Because you should be.
Or are you angry that after all those sacrifices in the Reaper War, all of that blood shed, that we've gone to committing bigger atrocities against each other Or are you glad? Are you glad to see that some salarians are rising up against their and fighting for their freedom any way they can? Or are you just crying like the little children you are? |

I must say you present a few interesting possibilities. But I'd say I'm nearly content. Thought I'd run out of busted up ships floating in space or ruined habs after the war but all this terrorist nonsense and explosions just keeps my inbox and wallet full.

All but the third. Most of all, I'm tired and really need a drink (by which I mean inebriation-drink, not thirst-drink).
The Sur'Kesh thing is pretty screwed up, so I wouldn't say I'm glad. Taking a look at the demands, they seem fair enough (i.e stuff we would've told them to do anyway), but blowing up arcologies isn't the way to do it. Good point about the bigger atrocities and the bloodshed, though. I'd have thought the galaxy would've learned to get along after the War... You should ask the krogans about the crying, they're as docile as a nesting pyjak. Really. C-Sec mail [here], personal [here], FEMES [here]. Is that all? Can I go? |

No not really, annoyed would better describe my state of mind, do you have any idea how much paperwork, (strange we still use that word,) such an attack engenders? Let me tell you, the number of CF-920 forms alone would make you shudder.Pariah wrote:Or are you angry that after all those sacrifices in the Reaper War, all of that blood shed, that we've gone to committing bigger atrocities against each other
No anger, if anything it is good to see that we come full circle as it were. This pettiness says to me that we are swinging back to the pre-war normal. Also please, "bigger atrocities against each other" the sacking of one city is not that big of an atrocity, not compared to what else races have done to themselves, or each other, and especially not considering what the Reapers have done.Pariah wrote:Or are you glad? Are you glad to see that some salarians are rising up against their and fighting for their freedom any way they can?
Not glad, as I said way too much paperwork to be glad. In addition, now I am thinking of it, maybe I could go for krogan, I should try and see if I can get both. Get a private alliance going...Pariah wrote:Or are you just crying like the little children you are?
Nope, also children do not cry as much as you seem to think, they are relatively quick to steel, unlike some adults. Now if you are thinking of babies, well we can agree about that, but those just cry because that is how the communicate, not because they have become aware of a potential existential threat caused by recent events.Signed Albert Lowell Diplomatic Attaché to the Office of Rear Admiral O'Reilly, Ambassador at large for The Earth Systems Alliance. |

Well, I can't speak for all the professional killers and hardcore, cold-hearted "I've seen it all what a cool guy I am ho ho ho" types, but I am APPALLED. I've always considered the salarians to be the most stable and self-correcting society out there. Okay, yes, the Salarian Union is practically synonymous with "spies here" to a lot of people, but that's the fault of the ruling government, not the people. You don't see people going around calling the turians "brainless solider automatons" because of their Hierarchy.
Anyways, I'm stunned. Really stunned. The salarians have always been able to police their own, and they never struck me as being so... overtly violent. That this happened - on Sur'Kesh, no less - makes me think that we as a galactic, multispecies culture need to really address these issues before they get worse. I think it's time the Council put up or shut up, as they say. Too many people say it's just 'salarian business' while the salarians in the corner end up dealing with it on their own. We pulled together for the Reapers; If we can't pull together now, when it's just one neighbor who needs help, then what were we fighting for in the first place? edit: And to everyone who follows this up with the standard "they're just frogs/hurr hurr it's life/i'm a hardcore killer with a shotgun for genitalia/standard bullshit extranet troll responses #245," get over yourselves. Mr. Larson, I've been trying to tell people this. Everyone's focused on the attack itself, and I see why, because it's awful, but really the problem is so much worse than that. Something's gone really wrong back there, and what you see is just a symptom of the sickness. Because we shouldn't be doing this. I really don't mean to offend anyone, but this isn't the same as some turians or humans or some krogan acting out. It isn't. You can get a group of turians or humans go bad and all it means is that the group's gone bad, but for something this big to happen to us, on the homeworld, it means the whole system's gone wrong. It means whoever did this knew enough to get past the STG and our security people, or they were the STG or the security people, and either way it means the Union itself is coming apart. And we're not an alliance of nations or religions or sects or tribes, we're a web of families. This is going to get so very, very ugly, and I don't know if everyone really understands how bad this is. I'm scared for Sur'Kesh, and I know most of you have been sympathetic, but I'm more scared of what's not being shown on the news, and that's the damage that's been done to our sense of identity. Already been done, for this to even happen. I don't know how to start piecing it all together. I hated the way things worked back home; the meddling, the manoeuvring, it drove me crazy, but it was something I understood. Now I don't understand anything. I know the Reapers changed things, but I don't know how it all got so twisted in just two years. Or did it start before that? See, I don't know. I don't know when the Union I left stopped being the Union I brought with me, if you get what I'm saying. But you see, don't you? You see what this attack is really showing us. Phraag is not pronounced "frog". It's not funny. I'm serious. |
