[PEOPLE] Hermit millionare's revenge! Krogan causes a scene at First Bank of Irune!
via The Galaxy Weekly The Thessian branch offices of First Bank of Irune beheld quite an unusual scene this afternoon, as a krogan hermit marched in and announced she will cash in most of her assets and withdraw nearly all her money from the bank. No, it wasn't an outright robbery, for the krogan who wished to remain unnamed has indeed the net worth of several millions in credits, property and shares, slowly accumulating since 1902 in the bank's vaults and on the markets. However if you were to ask the bank staff, sudden withdrawal of such sums away from the bank's use was akin to being robbed at gunpoint, which was why the krogan was denied her request. Eyewitnesses and videos taken from the scene showed a heated argument in progress that ended up with the hermit threatening the bank with a lawsuit before storming out. Our sources on Thessia know to tell us that a top-class attourney from Armali has been reportedly hired onto the case. First Bank of Irune has declined to comment on the krogan's case. I can relate to her. Being denied your funds...not a nice response from the bank.

yeah, because you being denied money but still being paid in food and lodging is exactly the same thing as a dumb krogan sitting out for a few centuries and then coming to claim her money that will literally bankrupt the bank dumbass |

Hey, I'm just glad I wasn't the one standing between her and the wealth.
If there is one thing I've learned during my employment in C-Sec, don't get in the way of a Krogan. Unless if you have people to help you. Or another Krogan. |

dumbass If your bank can be bankrupted by losing less than a billion credits, of money that isn't actually yours, you do not deserve to call yourself a bank, much less the First Bank of Irune. They can take the hit, and it probably wasn't even going to cross the desk of the Chairman unless he asked about it. Matthew Roker, Citadel Security. |

Precisely. They can take the hit, and it probably wasn't even going to cross the desk of the Chairman unless he asked about it. First and foremost credits are not "hard" resources. They are basically data which, by definition, is easier to store than literal piles of money. And even if, for some bizarre reason, the First Bank of Irune branch on the asari homeworld could not meet this demand they could have easily requested a transfusion from the Protectorate itself. If they could not have done that then they would be well within their rights to place a delay on the transaction until whatever technical issue it was had been sorted out. If, presumably, every single credit in the galaxy besides the ones kept in storage in that bank's servers had vanished well firstly you would have bigger problems than one krogan deciding to "stick it to the man" and empty an account that was likely accruing a lovely amount of interest, but secondly the bank would still be within their rights to decline the transaction in order to prevent a run on the bank's resources. I don't really know why this is even news. It's rather ridiculous. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves. -Niccolo Machiavelli |

I don't know about krogan or abrupt withdrawals, but putting a bit away here and there and letting it grow for a few centuries, well, most everyone on Thessia does that. I've still got an account with... someone or other, it's in the database... that I set up when I was in school - we all did, class project. Lemme just- oh yakshi ek vasu, Rannoch Planetary Bank... Point is, it's something that happens quite regularly that investments can be grown over that kind of timescale, and I'd have assumed any reputable bank would have taken the possibility into consideration just as a matter of course.Probably just some disagreement on a minor point, and it made the news because 'krogan shouting at a bank teller' is a marketable image for newsies down on real material for the day. ![]() |

Oh come on. This is Thessia?! As Daia said, everyone does long term savings and there are well established regulations for handling that. It's in the basic contract when opening a long term fund. Everyone knows you can't do what she was trying to do, that happens when you don't care for the fine print in the first place.
I don't fully understand why someone would want to "Cash out" all the money on a chit? This is definitely not standard procedure. ![]() |

Damn, c200 can seriously grow in just 400 years. I just transfered... alot of credits, to several different accounts, and now I see why they told that female no out right.

I wonder if the interest grows faster if you put it in salarian banks.

Hold on, I hired a volus to help me with this stuff and he is still hangin around.
... ... ... He says that it depends from bank to bank, but the difference isnt all that big and would take a few centuries to notice. Wenn ich dir sagte dass ich dich liebte, wurdest du dasselbe sagen? |

It probably will grow faster if you opt for a salarian style account but they are only short term. You probably won't get the these long term arrangements with a bank that specializes in deals for salarians at all. Totally different story on Thessia, an account that's only valid for three decades is of no use to us mostly. ![]() |

That vid is making its rounds on the extranet, it's actually quite funny- I just feel awful for that poor teller who tried to calm them down...
I'm a bit leery of this excuse that they couldn't pay out millions of credits on short notice... I know bank branches don't have the authority to immediately release extremely large sums of credits on-site but there are procedures to release them within a timely if not immediate fashion (perhaps the krogan rejects that offer before the recording starts?) Could this be indicative of a bigger problem? The asari branches of pretty much everyone must be swamped trying to identify and action upon billions of centuries old savings accounts that need to be converted to estate following the unexpected deaths of their owners due to the war.

EDIT: Corrected as per 4-eyes, it was a lapse on my part and I couldn't figure out how to reconcile it, sorry.

I... just had to think of the billions in accounts that just fall to the banks because the owners are gone now. Having just started out on a job I kind of just begin to gather some savings. Do we even have alternatives, I mean, real alternatives to volus banks? Aren't all banks in one way or another connected to volus? Not that I have any prejudice against them, it's more of a general question. the selection of banks on Mars is decent and they don't differ that much in what they offer. For my needs anyway. |
