WavesHaveBroken This one is unsure what to place here. Greetings!
Respectful greetings to all. This one hopes it finds the members of the board in good cheer.

This one has been told by the Learned Umpassalo to "vacate the Inner Sanctum so that these ones may determine the vessel's course and schedule without distraction". While this one is disappointed to be excluded, this one also acknowledges that it still finds travel through interstellar space incredibly exciting, and is not always able to maintain correct decorum in its responses! This one therefore wonders: were the others on the board equally excited upon first entering space? Many of the others appear to have great experience in traveling the galaxy (allow this one to express its envy!), yet this one believes that leaving familiar banks and striking out into space must have prompted great joy at first occurrence, and lent itself to personal revelation. This one humbly inquires after the others' experiences concerning first entry into space.

Yes, the first time I left Erszbat to go to Khar'shan it was a wonderful experience. Just like you I pestered the crew with questions. I was rather young and lacked a sense of scale, so I kept my forehead on the window trying to discern our destination, assuming i would see it very soon because my parents said "it wasn't far".

Slaves4Us is here to help you! Contact us with your need, and we will fulfill them in no time!
We have Asari, Turian, Salarians, Batarians, Humans, Elcors, Krogans, Volus, Vorcha and for a special price even rare Raloi stock!

Mekan of Omega
Space travel always interested me. My dad was a dockworker on Omega, sometimes he'd take me down to the docks to see the ships coming in and leaving. Don't know how he always knew so much about 'em. Never was the educated type before his escape from Khar'shan.

When I actually got on a ship for the first time, it was pretty cool. That was...only a couple of years ago, I think. The Discord incident. Some of the people here know what I'm talking about. First trip off Omega without the possibility of impending death was my move to the Citadel with my roommate, Nulisan. Always found myself opening the viewport next to my seat during the relay jumps.

Shamelessly plugging my blog. Click [here]. Currently on hiatus.

Grayeye Always look to the professionals.
Eh, its exciting the first time. Once it becomes routine for you, the novelty of the experience wears off.

Pilotlight Telos Mallenis. Proud Captain for the Citadel Exploration Fleet. Going further than anyone, for the good of everyone.
Oh... such old memories flashing up.

I was very little. About six or seven of age. My dad had this little shuttle of his, which he used to fly around for short to mid range distances. I kept following him around the halls of our house up until the hangar, pestering him to take me with him.
One day he finally gave in. He took my hand to walk down the jetway and into the Spacecraft. I remember this big 'butterfly' feeling as the airlock opened.

So I sat at the copilots seat, played around with the (locked) controls a bit and waited for dad to take off.

Then the hangar doors opened. The golden skyline of Practis appeared far in the distance. The skip slowly glided out of the hangar and drifted up. After a few minutes, the sky was black, stars were everywhere, and Trebia was shining brighter than I've ever seen...

And bellow was Palaven. Silver and Olive green hues visible at the twilight zone, while the myriads of lights from the cities flickered bellow.

Spirits, it was beautiful.

That was the day I swore to myself to become a pilot one day 3:)

An old human saying says "Oh no not I, I will survive
For as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive!"

Very wise those humans were.<3

Nat
The first time I entered was space was right after basic at the base in Darwin. At first, I was just glad to get out of Darwin (anywhere is better than Darwin. Some people like it but you can't even swim at most beaches because the crocodiles will try to eat you. In fact everything just hates you there, especially the weather and the DIs) but I have to say, once we broke atmo I was speechless.

Earth dropping behind me, the darkness of space just going on forever...yeah, the first time is pretty special. Even now I like to watch re-entry and exit and the shift into FTL.

Lime Spider We Will Overcome
Eh. Most of it's pretty boring, to be honest - everything outside of the first and last ten minutes is a bit same-y. That said, everyone remembers their first time, don't they?

Mine was like Nat's, during Basic (although I did mine in Cape Town). We had a brief trip out to Mars and back, nothing fancy, just to acclimatise us to it. I got motion sickness and had to throw up a good half-dozen times.

God. I was such an Earther then. But looking back down on it all... Wow.

Proud to have my feet on Earth again. Even prouder that they're in SATAE boots.

The first time I entered space, I was a toddler. The next time, I was just past ten, going to Brain Camp, then to another academy after that floundered, then I was all over the place. It's a wild trip!

Miralatriarch Just because I'm likely far older than you doesn't mean I know better.
My first ever space trip was back in [Earth year: 1486], which I was too young to remember; to my mother's unpleasant surprise, she went into (slightly) premature labour when we were almost halfway to Thessia from my father's home on Macedyn - and I was born about half an hour before we reached the final mass relay on the trip.
It came as a bit of a shock to the ship's medical officer, as well. Still, procedures were in place - and there weren't any complications beyond the mountain of paperwork Father had to fill out upon our arrival.

The first trip I remember was about fifteen years later, visiting my grandmother at her new residence on Lusia. Even though space travel becomes rather mundane, even tedious after a century or so of it, I'll never forget looking out of the window and seeing that planet getting bigger and bigger as we approached.

My first space flight was 20 years ago on a vacation to Nevos.

I don't remember much, just that I found the shuttle rather cold, and there were two Asari cuddling quietly in the back corner, probably a pureblood couple.

WavesHaveBroken This one is unsure what to place here. Greetings!
This one thanks the assembled others for their willingness to share. It is reassuring to this one that a sense of wonder and significance attends beings of many species at such pivotal moments in the others' lives. This one is currently awaiting the next general announcement regarding updated schedules, and is already eagerly anticipating the information! To transcend one's limited awareness of the universe and journey out into the greater encompassing is a gift beyond measure. This one is fascinated and pleased to find accounts of similar understanding among other species. It will reflect on the undercurrents and potentialities to be found in such universal awareness of transcendance at a later date.

Once more, this one offers its thanks to its fellow posters.
