The Good Doctor |
I came back to this site for some reason and was quite surprised to see that not one of the threads here of various topics of discussion have anything to do with those articles that were purportedly leaked from the STG. Such a thing should be an eminent topic of conversation especially at a place like this though I suppose Cerberus no longer exists. Perhaps it is because there are not many salarians here but such a topic should be still quite eminent.

Probably because the whole situation has been talked to death, and that's why no one has brought it up previously. Beyond that, the whole issue originates from a cache of documents that might have very well been fabricated to bring anti salarian hostility to a fever point.
Even if it were genuine, which I doubt since the whole thing reads like a cheap spy drama, as of yet anything detailed in the report, from shadowy monsters or salarian cyborg soldiers, has come into light with physical proof of its existence. Without anything to substantiate it, any actions taken as a result are done so on the basis of unfounded fear. Can't stop the signal. |

Wouldn't be surprised if the documents were legit.
I've seen weirder shit come about as a result of STG involvement. But, I'm one to at least take a look at the possibility that something's not happening. Shamelessly plugging my blog. Click [here]. Currently on hiatus. [Mekan Computer Security], now based on scenic |

It has been some months since the leak occurred. The issue was discussed all over what extranet was available at the time, and people have moved on from it - not to mention that having to rebuild more or less everything tends to distract people.

What they said, essentially. I guess most people don't have that long a memory; everyone's burnt themselves out over it.
But that's not fair, really. I mean, you can see it here on Earth, everyone's fine with aliens. Turians, elcor, krogan, even asari (for some reason), all treated just fine. More and more people are coming round to the geth and the blinks, too. But the frogs? Nobody trusts the frogs. God, you still get crazies going off and trying to kill them (there's a reason the Alliance and the Unions share guard duty at their villages). Fuck the STG. Fuck them so hard. That one little info-dump's killed God only knows how many of their own people. Proud to have my feet on Earth again. Even prouder that they're in SATAE boots. |

... okay.... what if....
the leak was just what everyone expected from the salarians, so no biggie, carry on please? For all I can say, salarians are doing secret salarian stuff (partially very creepy). Ah yes, the galaxy is what it was before. On a personal note: I usually like salarians. |

The galaxy is shown the path to Transcendence and yet remains content to linger on in this plane, too lazy to strike a new course out of our current. The whores and soldiers bleat about their supposed superiority, the krogan grumble for war, the rachni breed in the dark and the frogs scheme and meddle. |

Believe me, there was quite the outcry and uproar over it all across the extranet. And locally, meaning here at Sol. There was some, er, unpleasantness on a few sites but it didn't seem to reach this one - I already checked. No need for damage control (well, not for that type of damage, anyway). So, yeah, this seems to be a safe haven of sorts. Very strange and I'm still confused but nothing's been inflamed here yet.
It's typical, though. Salarians have a dozen or so plans-within-a-scheme going on at any one time, and even though it's no good for them they'll keep doing it because they just can't stop meddling in things. Most people are used to it by now and just sigh and carry on. But the humans are new, and they liked the salarians because we weren't holding them back at suspicious distance like turians or making them play by 1,000 year schedules like asari. And so I think they feel angry and confused because they considered us almost friends and then the one time they needed the meddling that's when Sur'Kesh decided to go to bed for a bit, you know? And now the typical salariantics that everyone else in the galaxy just accepts as inevitable are seen as horrifying and scary by humans, and they don't like it. They're seeing how deep the tabbit hole goes, and that there's every chance the tabbit's going to tunnel under them. No sorry, just checked, it's "rabbit" apparently. I should know these things by now. Anyway, I guess everyone here has other concerns, which makes it a good place to lie low, as ridiculous as that sounds. Phraag is not pronounced "frog". It's not funny. I'm serious. |
Commandline |
We were invaded by Godsquid last year. At the same time a super-secret group of cyborg commandos with magic swords nearly took over the Citadel, and were fought off by basically one woman, who then disappeared around the same time that the godsquids became friendly.
Nothing in this galaxy is a surprise to me anymore. |

Jeral the Improbable Here I am. Just being awesome. |
Probably because the whole situation has been talked to death .What's funny is how no one finds that strange. This is the STG we are talking about, their secrets have secrets and all that, yet suddenly they become the most overexposed joke of a clandestine orginazation over night, and yet the extranet let's out one gigantic "meh." Think about this, how do you get people to stop talking about something? You make them so utterly sick of the conversation that no one ever wants to talk about it again.. And you don't even have to be defending your cause to make it work, In fact, it's better if you don't. Just look at how many extranet trolls seemed to pop up overnight, going off on crazy theories about the STG being behind the entire Reaper invasion, or how they were kidnapping civilians from the citadel to turn into geth-Reaper hybrids. And then there were the more subtle groups who would just turn every conversation to the STG and those leaks. Soon, any mention of that topic could earn you the hate of everyone within an extranet community, even if the attempt was to legitimately discuss the leaks. That, friends, is how you kill an information revolution. :l

Mr. Jeral, I hate to admit it but there is a certain proclivity of my mind to at least assume some suspicion in things, and I do admit I've ready and watched plenty of (rather terrible) intelligence media to say that such sounds as an absolutely brilliant disinformation campaign.
Of course, this is simply me grasping at invisible straws ... which I can't actually grasp anyway ... Sadly, I'm too busy hearing the local news talk about various other conspiracies. Does anyone know why Jeanne Lesley is even allowed on ANN-5? Hey, I still care. I want the entire organization shut down and replaced by something that doesn't try to weaponize sentient beings. I follow quite a number of message boards, this reaction over fungus is very CDN specific. Maybe because the journalist who said all that Qoroq stuff was from here. Slaves4Us is here to help you! Yes, we have that dubious honor. But whereas there was plenty of panic going on in reaction to Qoroq all over the galaxy, the fungal bloom on Noveria seems to have provoked hysteria only here. Saying that the STG has secrets and does mad science is like saying Asari are blue.
Also, an organization like the STG should not run independently and the dalatrasses should cut the funding. I mean look at the last "patriotic interest group" and look what happened. If there is no accountability who knows what the STG will do as a "favour" to the Salarian Union, thus in the interest of the galacitic public I can only encourage further leaks. Speaking of accountability... ah forget it. That said, the STG was of great aid during the reaper war (while Linron was not), even though they had tendency to loose drones, data and packages behind enemy lines. I am just sad that the disagreements with the Linrons lead to that schism, I hope there will be some sort of oversight soon so I can go back to trust that the STG is not loose on its own.
