Get Me Out - Roleplaying Recruitment

As I'm sure some of you know, everyone's favorite batarian blogger and hacker has been forcibly taken into custody by a bunch of pissed-off batarian militia on Erszbat. Several weeks (realtime) after Mekan's 'arrest' by Karval County Militia, he was forcibly inducted into their propaganda machine at gunpoint via the use of his Prophet blog, where he managed to slip a not-so-hidden message into the post for CDN members to read.

The message read 'They're killing us. Get me out.'

Anyone interested in having their characters participate in a jailbreak? If so, please post and present some interest. I will be taking a maximum of three players for Mekan's breakout. Maybe four, but no more than that. Participating characters will be rewarded via reasonable methods such as money, a shot at some looted batarian firearms from dead guards or the armory, or information or favors from Mekan to be called in at a later point.

Meanwhile, players will be rewarded with delicious cake.

This brief plotline is primarily meant for associates Mekan may have made in the past, but others may join in as well. The exact details of the jailbreak would ideally be planned out by the players/characters involved in the rescue attempt in advance of their arrival at the POW camp and the subsequent execution of their plan. Any relevant information on the prison in which Mekan is being held will be forwarded via the old CDN PM system or the CDN IRC if you require it (you will), but above all, the rescue attempt cannot involve any contact with Mekan until participating characters actually get to him inside said prison. It will be assumed the participating characters have made an effort to research their target before they break into the place to break Mekan out. Now, relax. I will be GMing the role of the guards, prison staff, and the other prisoners being held in the POW camp, so don't worry about doing all of the planning and work yourselves.

Keep in mind, this isn't the Bahak prison raid in ME2's Arrival DLC. It won't be a straightforward shoot 'em up unless you make it that way, but if you do, there will be downsides. Lots of downsides. It'll undoubtedly make your characters' lives harder, even if you're not breaking into a maximum security government prison. The Common Sense Rule is in full effect here. Remember that.

EDIT: Incidentally, participating characters will be given priority consideration by Mekan for involvement in any future escapades he gets into. In other words, this very brief plotline is sort of a recruiting ground for other plotlines later on. If you're interested in other roleplaying plotlines Mekan might call in outside help for, this is your chance to get a sort of 'reserved seat.'

Can Bintar act as some sort of mission control or maybe grifter? He already sent feelers to know more about Mekan's fate.

I wouldn't mind a small cameo/guest star role (e.g., the guy who provides intel or something), though RTB's people wouldn't really have much incentive to get in on the ground action.

That was quick.

So far, it's looking mostly like AEGIS characters, Palmer, and a couple of people who won't be 'on-site' for the purposes of the mission. The exact details of how these characters end up coming together for Mekan's rescue is totally up to you, but I've got enough takers for the rescue mission from the looks of it.

RememberTheBlitz: A cameo for your character prior to the rescue attempt would fit in nicely if he serves in an intelligence-gathering capacity.

Niala, Kage, Iceman and Palmer: Making these four the actual rescue party was an easy enough decision. Mekan's good friends with Palmer and some members of AEGIS. Other elements of AEGIS getting involved is totally welcome, since the majority of the rescue team seems to be composed of members.


No reason we can't do that, I suppose. A slaver's involvement in the rescue will add an interesting angle to the whole thing, but he should ideally have a very good reason to get involved. Mekan's anti-slaver stance is fairly well-known to anyone who's vaguely aware of the guy, making Bintar's involvement in his rescue raise questions. So however Bintar opts to get involved, he should coordinate with the rest of the rescue team and figure out a good role for himself.

As I told you on IRC Bintar believes he can befriend anyone, he likes Mekan, and he honestly see him as a very promising future ally.
Also he's not hot with people from his own planet getting massacred.

His role would be to give the extraction troops and in and out through guile and trickery. It wouldn't be a Slaves4Us operation so his resources would be limited. The Unexpected Opportunity will be available though.

Sorry for the delay, ladies and gentlemen, but I've finally finished writing everything you'll need to know. Everyone who is participating, let it be known that the information relevant for the in-character briefing will be handed off to RememberTheBlitz. Since RTB was so kind to offer to run the IC briefing in which everyone will be made aware of the details of the target site, he'll be the one responsible for relaying all the relevant information to your characters during the roleplaying thread. This is partly due to time constraints on my part, and partly because I feel it makes for a slightly more engaging roleplaying experience to not tell everyone everything about the target site OOC first.
