Introduction

'Sup boys and girls! The name's Izzy - Izzy Latanya, freelance mercenary, bodyguard and all-round badass for hire.

Hah, I kid. Well, about the badass bit. You might have heard about it on the newscasts, if you watch the right channels, but I'll elloo-sid-ate for the rest.

(And cause it's a bitching story)

So I grew up on the world of Senet, nice enough place if'n you like agriworlds right close to the Terminus side of the Verge. Trained to be a nurse, if you wanted to know, but that changed when they came.

Batarian raiders. Never did find out their names, you know. Slavers, pirates, whatever - they blasted the capital city and the GARDIAN network from orbit, then swooped in to pick up the pieces.

You ever seen an orbital bombardment, bee tee dubs? I was coming home from school with my little brother when it happened. You feel it in your chest, like thunder, but the noise is like a needle going through your ears. I was deaf for days afterward.

I don't know how long Krish stayed deaf for. He was one of the first they snatched. I hope he's still out there, somewhere. That, or he died when they implanted the chips. I still feel sick whenever I smell something burn.

But enough sad stuff! Me and a couple of friends, we formed the resistance. We only had those big old Mattocks at first, 'til we killed ourselves a couple of blink bastards. Then we had all kinds of fun.

I know they're banned by the Citadel Conventions, but flamethrowers are a wonderful thing.

The raiders were s'posed to just snatch and bail, I guess (the Alliance reps tell me that's what they nromally do - or did, since the Reapers curb-stomped Khar'Shan flat, hah!, but the King High Squint of this bunch decided to hang around and flay us alive ('parently the first one I burned alive was his lover or something, idk).

So the dumb bastards hung 'round 'til the Alliance Navy rocked up and blew their butts to Kingdom Come. Hah!

Anyway, that's my claim to fame. Looking forward to meeting y'all!
