Biography

"The_Sarcastic_Salarian" covers two identities, one before the ME3-induced Timeskip and one after. Previously, this account was used by Aphin Protretho, an angry, curmudgeonly ex-STG who found himself (time and time again) to be dragged back into saving the day. Nowadays, it belongs to Emon Spiza ("ESpiza" on the old forums), who was in many ways his protege and many other ways the galaxy's Chew Toy.

They have similar dispositions, but very different motivations. Aphin was an angry alcoholic because he was a military-trained soldier who kept getting called back out of retirement. Spiza, on the other hand, was an engineer who had his life dragged through the mud more times than he could count - including being dragged into slavery, both literally and figuratively. Aphin was a trained soldier and a crack shot; Spiza was a scientist and prone to thinking his way out of a situation (though this rarely ended well).

As of today, Aphin is more or less permanently retired, having lost two limbs and an eye to the Cause (and having continued the fight even after that). It is unclear to members of the forum whether he is still alive, because his final post left no indication of his impending survival. As such, Spiza has claimed his screen name, partially out of love for the old jackass, and partly because he is stuck cleaning up his messes (including the bar the senior left to the junior).

Thanks to the reality holovision show Dynasty Maker, Spiza fathered a daughter - a feat Aphin never actually succeeded in doing. Said daughter disappeared with her clan in the early stages of the Reaper War, however, and it is unclear whether she survived or is simply one of the millions killed. Her (likely) death, along with the death of Martello Hansa (who co-owned Aphin's Place alongside him), has left him a bitter, angry man - a personality hardened by the unrelenting hatred piled on him for being a member of the only Council species to "cut and run" during the war.

Spiza is also an STG agent, having been dragged into the position in the final battles of the War after becoming involved with dozens of top-secret projects and accidentally proving his "worth." He currently works undercover as an engineer for the Forgotten Daughters Foundation, installing new water-based infrastructure by day, telemanaging his bar in the afternoon, and collecting information on Europe's political climate by night. The average member of CDN does NOT currently know this, as he likes his neck remaining attached to his shoulders far too much to discuss his clandestine activities.
