Some notes regarding the forum.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

On behalf of the Cerberus Daily News moderator team, we would like to apologize for the slow last month. Due to several issues beyond our control, we have been lax on generating new content for the site – and as moderators for the forums, this is unacceptable.

Because of this, we are doing a few things.

First of all, we are relaxing Rule #3 of the Forums. This is not to say that we’re opening up cross-species hybrids or things like that (that’s just silly), but we are certainly going to let players get away with more than they usually do. Over the years, some of this board’s best characters were the ones that pushed the boundaries of the forum the most. They’re the ones that fought the “nobodies of the galaxy” mindset the hardest, and while we’d rather you didn’t save Thessia itself from a meteor storm of thresher maws, it’s time we restored some crazy to this board.

Second, current mods will be contributing more articles to the forum. While the April Fool’s article is a prank, it’s an example of the more dynamic mindset we want to adopt. We’re not planning on writing just politics; we want inflammatory articles meant to spur the rest of the forum into action. We’ll also be looking to write articles you folks can get in on. We’re not just worldbuilding to make discussion for, we’re worldbuilding the sort of stuff Joe Schmoe can claim he’s at, so that YOU can take the narrative where you want to take it.

Third, at least two of the mods (Ichabod and I) are in the early planning stages for another major RP arc to come sometime later this month. While it won’t be WGT (as that rather finished up with Aphin’s departure), it WILL feature the STG in some way. Keep an eye out for that – and get your own covert characters going in the meantime, because we just might reel you in for the job.

Fourth, SATAE is going to do some shit. We don’t know what, exactly, but rest assured that there will be some sort of upheaval in the near future. Got any ideas? Want to suggest something? Discuss it below – maybe your idea will shape board events in the weeks to come!

Fifth, a new Reapers game is on its way.

And it will be DDS-based.

Know fear.

Those five points are our own plan on keeping activity up on a post-ME3 forum, but if you have suggestions of your own, lay ‘em out for us in this thread. Have an idea to get people interested? Show us – your idea may yet be used in the coming weeks!

As discussed in the chat, we should definitely use Reddit and TV Tropes to help spread the word, along with Tumblr and other mass effect fan sites!

I haven't been around the last couple weeks as much, and have a few bad weeks to go yet, but my two cents:

I like the idea of the news articles being more interactive. I like the idea of our characters being able to meet some of the people, places and things mentioned in the articles, and to do things that affect the news. I think this makes the news more relevant to the characters (and by extension their players) and allows it to serve as a springboard for RP.

While we will have to be careful that players don't elect their characters Primarch of Irune, Shepard 2.0 or Harbinger Jr., I think that this decision is in the interest of more and better RP.

I'm looking forward to taking part in a few weeks' time, and being a bit more active.

@Sundowner : What worries me is that we don't want to give the impression that the galaxy revolves around CDN (which is already kind of the impression we're getting). what's cool about CDN is that we are those little guys in that big galaxy. So let's just be careful about that. When we make the news it should be HUGE.

Otherwise in order to complete the tvtropes page (which will serve as the "look at all the cool stories we did!" page), we REALLY need everyone to put their storylines in this thread. So please guys, gather each RPs are even a few board threads in which you think your characters' stories evolved and archive them. With those links the tvtropes will be MUCH better.
Plus we'll have an idea of what we're talking about.

News about SATAE actually preparing for the transition would be nice. As sensational as all the news stories about things SATAE did wrong are, it'd be nice to have a bit of balance. Or maybe just something that's not negative.

Excellent. Now I just need to finish with my RL [Redacted], and RTB can continue his plans to take over the galaxy spread peace and love to batarians everywhere.

Just a little something from the top of my head, but maybe have them announce what's going to happen after that Five Year Plan? All countries back to their pre-Reaper borders, all governments to be decided by elections over a set period of time, all countries and colonies to have one Alliance parliamentarian, all countries laws and constitutions have to match Alliance law, the Alliance to be humanity's only legal representative to aliens (so Eden Prime couldn't just sell stuff to the volus on the cheap), maybe even something like universal citizenship?

Something that lets pro-SATAE characters feel justified while giving the seppers some things to bitch about (why should we believe them, our colony/country wants more freedom, why is it taking so long, etc.). Just an idea.

As a resident Tumblr user, I don't think Tumblr is the best way to promote the site, mostly just because the "mass effect" tag isn't incredibly active over there. It's mainly just people chatting about their playthroughs. You're welcome to try, though, if you want.

I don't think this is a bad idea per se. But I would like to note two things.

1) That a lot of anti-SA articles have been... well from sources that make them not terribly credible IC. Articles like the colony in the Terminus and Vietnam are something of an exception to the rule.

2) The vast majority of the human characters on this board are Pro SATAE. Separatists are underrepresented and thus far there has been only one RP really focusing on the Separatist issue, one which portrayed the Separatists in a very poor light.

I'm not saying that the RP was the problem because it was very well done. The problem is that we have about 3 separatist characters on the boards and because of this there have been a derth of RPs which might portray the Separatists in a sympathetic light as opposed to stone throwing assholes. Basically this is a long way of saying; MAKE MORE SEPPERS DAMMIT D:<

SATAE material is just what I was hoping for. It's what I was looking forward too since I first heard about it.

That and the multitude of mass effect artists.

I'm going with Corona here in that I think there should be some progress with SATAE acting in accordance with their goals, but I don't think that precludes some believable separatists. Because I completely agree we need more seppers. The Eden Prime arc isn't the most suitable vehicle for seppers being sympathetic, simply because it's from the perspective of Marines who are doing their best not to see the separatists that way. That doesn't mean that said seppers don't have legitimate grievances.

I've been a little...inactive with my separatist but that's going to change.

Gotta say, I'm pretty excited for all this. I think we can strike a balance where both sides are sympathetic.
